Thoughts: Kimi no Todoke’s anime adaptation was voted best of winter 2011, and I agree. Kimitodo (affectionate fan nickname) is shoujo done RIGHT: The main guy is NOT a jerk, the main girl is NOT ditzy, and the premise is about learning to accept yourself as you are, no unreasonable or impossible “make-overs” included.

It’s a very down-to-earth story that is a breath of fresh air in a genre where magical girls and jerky male leads are the staple. I’d watch this show again and again! (And I have.)
